The GLUON HyperPublishing System (HPS) uses countless innovations to solve all types of publishing "problems." From the very first step of creating dynamic templates using HyperTemplate™ XT you'll see the GLUON difference. GLUON has been making XTensions and plug-ins for over 17 years and unlike most of our competitors we do things from the inside out. This gives you more power, more automation and more choices. Other systems use proprietary and often awkward rendering engines and template creation methods. Our system can directly use regular QuarkXPress or InDesign to make templates (though you can make them online as well)...ensuring full publishing power, not some subset that comes from "reinventing the wheel."

You define which parts of a publication are dynamic or editable. This assures that product brand integrity is secure and that legal copy and the like are not altered by an end user. With online interactive editing, you can setup elegant, form-based interaction or use the DirectEdit™ module to enable text and picture changes directly in a publication preview. If you need more advanced interfaces, we also offer flash-based interfaces that have the same professional look and feel across all browsers.

The GLUON difference becomes more apparent when it comes to database-driven, automated page construction, where the HyperMatrix™, HyperDesign™ and HyperContent™ modules provide a brand new, highly efficient way to work. Our solution, referred to by some as "object-oriented publishing" has broken publishing down into it's logical, common denominator "objects" which allows you to create design-rich documents from complex data sources.

The HyperPublishing System out-of-the-box includes:

• HyperTemplate XT — A cross-platform and highly sophisticated QuarkXPress XTension used to create intelligent templates from ordinary QuarkXPress documents. It also uploads templates and images to the Server for convenience. It creates ready-to-go HTML forms with cascading style sheets for testing templates so you can deploy new web-to-print instances in seconds! Or you can upload to the store or the intranet system with one click creating all required entries in the database right from your desktop. This functionality can't be touched by competitors and puts us miles ahead!
• HyperRender SXT — A cross-platform QuarkXPress Server XTension which understands all the rules applied to a HyperTemplate and renders documents accordingly. It can be used to create anything from simple cards to complex multi-page technical documentation and catalogs. Full control over every aspect of design is provided, from text to colors to drop shadows, opacity and much more. With over 1 million lines of code, HyperRender accepts well over 300 commands and has all the advanced features you won't find anywhere else including:
  
  
  • HyperFit — Sophisticated, powerful text and picture fitting unequalled in the industry with box-level control of minimums and maximums.
  • HyperPreview — As you work online, HyperRender can send back perfect JPEG or PNG preview at the compression, size and in color space you want creating a "live" experience. Toggle overflow indicators on/off. We also have advanced XML based previews to help create a truly interactive online experience.
  • Design Overrides — No matter what's on your template, if you need to you can change box colors, opacity, add shadows and much more. We even have "global" design overrides which allow you to switch all text to one font or add a background color, etc.
  • HyperScale — Resize templates to any proportion without distorting text or graphics. The same template can be rendered at thousands of sizes.
  • HyperGrids (Dynamic Zones) — A smart grid system where blank spaces on a template can be populated with mathematically perfect grids filled with blocks that contain repeating or different "mini-layouts" . Dynamic Zones can also flow content into columns or zig-zag patterns.
  • HyperFlow — For publications of unknown length, data can be flowed in (various ways) and pages added automatically as needed. We also have a DITA converter into our HyperFlow XML for technical documentation which supports multi-page tables.
  • gTags — An incredibly easy text tagging technology that allows advanced formatting of text down to the character level.
  • GLUON Template XML Backbone (GTXML) — HyperPublishing relies heavily on the open standard of XML so that the process of transferring critical information about templates and content is as understandable, flexible and efficient as possible.
  • Conditional Content — Boxes on a page can be made to auto-delete if no data is sent to them and text can be made to delete other text such as unneeded bullets and spaces based on what is sent or not sent.
  • HyperAdjust — The ability to have conditional content which "magically" reacts to other content that gets sent or not sent
  • HyperAlign — In addition to HyperAdjust, further ability to maintain critical alignments when changing data is sent...an Art Director's dream.
  • HyperTables — Populate any region on a page with smart, self-fitting tables of any level of sophistication imaginable with shading and spans or target pre-existing tables with new data.
  • Area of Interest — A GLUON invention which allows you to select an area of an image that is most important so that when the same image is repurposed to different size boxes, it always maximizes the Area of Interest...better than cropping.
  • Super Templates — Make synchronized changes to multiple layouts at the same time all in one template. Example: update a business card, an envelope, a letterhead and a mechanical layout with a single input.
  • Layer Control — Show and hide layers as needed for maximum flexibility in template usage...getting more out of less.
  • HyperSlugs — Add slugs in the margins of documents with pertinent metadata
  • OPI Support — Swap in hi-res graphics for final output and work with efficient lo-res during editing
  • Unlimited Output Styles — Call by name from a preset list all manner of PDF and EPS output styles including PDF/X-1a and PFD/X3 or override settings on the fly
  • Output to Order—At the end of the process, browser users or designated file servers can receive a finished, collected Quark file, PDF, TIFF, EPS, PNG, PPML, JPEG, XML, HTML or other formats, cutting the design/print process to a fraction of the time it normally takes.

• HyperContent (Flex) — A scalable, easy-to-use content management system based on open-standard MySQL and PHP which creates thumbnails and FPO images when original art (.eps, .tif, .psd, .jpg, etc.) is uploaded and metadata is entered. Comes with a flash-based image browser. Database publishing made easy.
• HyperCommerce — An intuitive, easy-to-maintain storefront for printers and those working with printers based on open standards. Comes complete with Store Admin, WorkSpace and many features. (some Flex components)
• HyperMatrix — An intuitive interface for managing and creating multiple versions of publications. Each version can be populated with its specific copy and pictures and even resized before final output to server as uniquely named Quark or PDF files.
• HyperDesign (Flex) — A powerful online document creation and design tool with snap-to guides, grids and intuitive database linking tools. Designs can be used as blocks on a larger page using HyperGrid or HyperFlow, a whole page or as a new template.
• HyperImage (Flex) — A flash-based online tool for non-destructively editing an image's metadata that travels with the image including Area of Interest, flipping, rotation and more.
• HyperStyle (Flex) — This flash-based module enables the fine control of text on a character level. Fully control the font, size, scaling, color and position of individual letters.
• HyperCharts — This stand-alone server module creates publishing-ready PDFs of pie, bar, line and area charts.
• HyperSite — This stand-alone server module creates entire web sites based on templates with easy to use XML input.
• HyperStitch — This Server XTension module allows you to gather together various documents and combine them in a single Quark or PDF output file.
• HyperTables Online — Leveraging years of experience in table creation, we've created an amazing online table editor that allows you to paste Excel data into your browser and then tweak a few settings to create perfect, stylized tables with column and row spans taken care of too.
• HyperTemplate Online (Flex) — We've taken the power and simplicity of our Quark XTension and allowed users to simply upload a raw XPress document and then "tag" it online after which it is ready to be used by the system.
• DirectEdit™(Flex) — This makes online publishing fun. Roll your mouse over a live preview, see boxes highlight and click on them to edit the document directly.
• LiveEdit™ (Flex) — Use this to remotely interact with actual QuarkXPress documents. Think of it as remote control for desktop publishing. Incorporate DAM or Google Maps easily into the workflow.
• LiveRead™ (Flex) — This is an efficient way to serve up read-only publications (only the pages you want) which are searchable, zoomable and have hyperlinks and look exactly like the paper-based counterpart. It's a great alternative to unwieldy PDFs or HTML and it's easy to deploy.
• Custom — Because we are skilled developers and work comfortably in the following list of languages/environments you can be assured if it can be done, we can do it: C, C++, Java, Flex, Javascript, PHP, Ruby, Ajax, MySQL, Mac OS, Win OS, more.
